Welcome to the A.R.T. blog where art and poker interact. In the blog, we’ll be posting ongoing documentation as the project develops. Also check the Future Performances page for details of up and coming games.
Alternative Risk Transfer (A.R.T.) is a collaborative and performative art project that utilises the game of poker to explore the inter-relationship of power, risk and value in art practice and the art market.
During the game, players including artists, collectors and curators, stake art in an ongoing negotiation of value within an environment charged with risk, uncertainty and competition.
As the game progresses, micro-political strategies and ruses emerge as players test their skills in the manipulation of risk, value and chance.
Nomadic and evolutionary, the game moves from place to place, reformulating according to context, players and the changing agenda of the project.
A.R.T. is conceived by London based artist Eugene Perera (www.eugeneperera.net) and collaborators include Georgia Anderson, Andres Borda, Abbas Nokhastah, Eiko Honda, Christopher Thomas and Kristen Lovelock.
Alternative Risk Transfer is working in collaboration with Openvizor.
